Throughout American history, there have been many atrocities. And at the top of this list, segregation. And while we mostly hear of the racial form, there is another- segregation based on wealth.
Many people have heard of the "Poor Door- Rich Door" debate. Basically, some apartment buildings in New York City have started to include both high income housing and low income housing. While this may seem harmless, and even good, it has sparked up some controversy. These buildings, containing the two different housing styles, install a main door, usually really nice and shiny, for the rich people, and a side entrance, from the alley, for the poor people.
It is ironic that after everything we went through to make sure that whites and blacks could be equal that we are just letting this happen. It isn't fair that just because someone is making less money that they should have to be put through the humiliation of not being able to go through the main entrance to their apartment building.
The solution to this problem is simple. Don't discriminate. I guess that is what I am trying to say. It doesn't matter if your rich or poor, black or white, disabled or not. We are all human, and deserve to be let in at ANY door we want.
